Tell us your business name: Holistic Dental Wellness of Carmel

How did you get started on your holistic journey?
I was inspired to start my business, Holistic Dental Wellness, because I saw an opportunity to approach dentistry in a way that truly aligned with my values. Witnessing the health struggles of a family member taught me how interconnected the body is and how critical it is to address the root causes of illness rather than just the symptoms.

What inspired you to start your business?
I wanted to create a space where patients could feel cared for beyond their teeth—where their lifestyle, diet, stress, and overall well-being were part of the conversation. I also wanted to empower people to make informed choices about their health, using natural and preventive methods alongside modern dental care. Starting this practice was my way of bridging the gap between conventional dentistry and holistic wellness, offering something I wished more people had access to.

What impact do you want to have on the community and people you work with?
The impact I want to have on the community and the people I work with is to inspire a deeper understanding of the connection between oral health and overall well-being. My goal is to empower patients to take charge of their health by providing them with knowledge, tools, and treatments that address the root causes of issues rather than just symptoms.

I hope to create a ripple effect, where people not only feel healthier but also share what they’ve learned with their families and friends. In the community, I want to normalize holistic approaches, encouraging others to see the body as an interconnected system. Ultimately, I strive to build trust and foster long-term relationships that lead to healthier, happier lives for everyone I serve.

What core values are at the foundation of your work in the world?

  1. Holistic Wellness – Embracing the interconnectedness of the body and addressing the root causes of health issues to create lasting well-being.
  2. Integrity – Providing care that is honest, ethical, and truly in the best interest of my patients.
  3. Education – Empowering patients with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their health.
  4. Compassion – Building trust and understanding by treating each patient as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.
  5. Prevention – Focusing on proactive and natural solutions to minimize the need for invasive treatments.
  6. Sustainability – Prioritizing eco-friendly practices that benefit not only individual health but also the environment.

These values guide every interaction and decision in my practice, ensuring that the work I do aligns with my purpose and positively impacts the lives of others

Please share some of your favorite holistic tips:

For Oral Health:

  1. Oil Pulling: Swish a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes before brushing to help reduce harmful bacteria and improve gum health.
  2. Tongue Scraping: Use a tongue scraper each morning to remove toxins and bacteria from your tongue, which can improve oral and digestive health.
  3. Switch to Natural Toothpaste: Choose fluoride-free toothpaste with ingredients like xylitol, charcoal, or neem for a safer, natural clean.

For Whole-Body Wellness:

  1. Hydration Boost: Start your day with a glass of warm water and lemon to hydrate, support digestion, and gently detoxify your body.
  2. Breathing Exercises: Practice deep belly breathing or box breathing (inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4) to reduce stress and improve focus.
  3. Dry Brushing: Gently brush your skin in circular motions before showering to improve circulation, support lymphatic drainage, and exfoliate.

For Diet and Nutrition:

  1. Add More Greens: Sneak leafy greens into smoothies, soups, or scrambled eggs for an easy nutrient boost.
  2. Mindful Eating: Chew your food slowly and eat without distractions to improve digestion and tune into your body’s hunger and fullness cues.
  3. Spices for Health: Use turmeric, ginger, or cinnamon in your meals for their anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties.

For Stress Management:

    1. Gratitude Journaling: Write down three things you’re grateful for every day to shift your mindset and boost positivity.
    2. Nature Time: Spend at least 15 minutes outdoors daily to connect with nature, improve mood, and reduce stress.
    3. Screen-Free Evenings: Turn off screens an hour before bed to improve sleep quality and reduce overstimulation.

Fun fact:
A fun fact about my business is that I love incorporating unexpected elements into patient care, like introducing aromatherapy in the office to help patients feel more relaxed during their visit. Lavender, peppermint, or citrus oils create a calming and uplifting atmosphere—it’s like a mini spa experience during your dental appointment!

A fun fact about me is that I’m a bit of a tea enthusiast. I enjoy exploring herbal blends and often share recommendations with patients for teas that support oral health, like chamomile for reducing inflammation or green tea for its antibacterial properties.

Anything else to share?
One thing I love sharing is how rewarding it feels to see patients transform their health by connecting the dots between their oral care and overall wellness. For example, when someone experiences fewer headaches after treating a bite alignment issue or feels more energized after reducing toxic exposure, it’s a powerful reminder of how interconnected our bodies are.

Another thing is that I’m always learning! Holistic care evolves as we uncover new research and practices, so I’m constantly exploring ways to improve my approach and bring the best care to my patients.

Lastly, I deeply appreciate the community I serve—every conversation and success story fuels my passion for what I do. If you ever have questions about holistic wellness or want to dive deeper into a specific topic, I’m always happy to share!
